As we move into a new age of government, a government that wants to control our lives, we look to the government to keep us safe.
But at was expense does this 'safety' come at. The government saying that they can do 'pat downs' and searches that go beyond reasonable search. For years we have been taught and we have taught our kids that you can not be touched in certain places except by a doctor. When we stop and look at what the Constitution of the United States says:
>The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.< http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution
From reports of a man telling the TSA not to touch his junk, to a man getting his urine bag broke, to children being strip searched at random, the stories of people experiencing something that goes beyond reasonable are pouring out. And we are supposed to say that this is acceptable because we were attacked on September 11, 2001? In many cases what we are seeing done is about control, more than about safety.
We were assured that images from the body scanners would not be stored, that they would be deleted. What the United States Government lied to us? These images have made their way online. If there are the 100 that are out there, how many more are there?
The government can see much more than they let you believe they can for this. The naked image body scanners border pornography. Is there any reason for TSA to stick a hand down a mans pants, to feel the front of a child? Where does the line get drawn. We know right now if the government had their way it doesn't and it won't. We are being told its for our safety. And they use the example of how bombs were tried to be gotten on board with cargo, in ink jet cartridges. The Christmas Day bomber, but what people seem to forget is that passenger did not board a plane in the United States! How can we protect what someone does over seas. Other countries are not going to scan their passengers, pat them down. Some of these countries support the demise of the United States. They laugh at what we have become, fearful. Yes they day we let terrorist dictate our lives is the day they have won. That day is here. They have won, and politicians say its to keep us safe. Just today there was an incident involving cargo at Logan Airport that prompted evacuation as a security measure. Again this is being used to say this is why we should do this, but if a dog can sniff out something in the cargo, wouldn't it be more beneficial, and less costly to use these same animals? It would certainly make the concern of inappropriate touching a moot point.
What the government is saying is that we can do this to protect you, we support this new pornography, and we support the molesting and assault of each and every person who refuses a full body scan. And as each testimony comes out from people that have been through this experience, have seen their children go through it, see it exactly as that, not at how the government is promoting it.
It's not about safety, its about control.
